We are Perceptive
We provide clear, compassionate, and evidence-based psychological support to children, families, and professionals.
The Educational Psychologist behind Perceptive
Dr Jemma Anderson is a Specialist Educational Psychologist with over 15 years’ experience across teaching and educational psychology.
Jemma leads Perceptive, supporting children and young people aged 0-25, their families, and the professionals who support them.
Her work is grounded in psychological formulation. She develops a deep understanding of the emotional, developmental, and learning needs behind children’s behaviour, and translates this into clear, practical, and meaningful next steps.
The Perceptive approach
We believe that understanding the underlying needs behind behaviour is the key to meaningful support.
Our approach is centred on developing psychological formulations that move beyond surface-level behaviour to explore what may be maintaining or contributing to a child or young person’s difficulties.
This understanding is then translated into practical guidance that supports decision-making, planning, and intervention across home, school, and wider systems.
Qualifications and Professional Standards
Our work is grounded in robust professional expertise and accountability.
We are led by a doctoral-level qualified Educational Psychologist who has specialised in advanced therapeutic interventions,
including EMDR and VIG.
We are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), ensuring our practice is regulated, safe and evidence based.
We are Chartered by the British Psychological Society (BPS), reflecting high standards of professional practice and ongoing development.
These foundations underpin the evidence-based and specialist support offered through Perceptive.
How we work together
Perceptive offers specialist educational psychology consultation, assessment, and formulation-led support.
All work begins with a brief online initial consultation, providing a focused space to consider concerns and identify the most appropriate next step.
Following this, support may include ongoing consultation, direct assessment, consultation with professionals, formulation-led recommendations, and guidance regarding support planning and intervention.
If you would like to explore support, you can start with a 20-minute online initial consultation.
